#IronDad23 is a 501c3 Charitable Non Profit that has been set up to continue the Legacy of Clark Deardorff. Clark lived life to the fullest while helping others and giving back anyway he could. #IronDad23 is doing the same, helping local families in need, our student athletes and our Souderton schools.
#IronDad23 is aware of the questions surrounding our 501c3 status. When forming #IronDad23, one of our supporters was asked and volunteered to do our tax filings for #IronDad23. Late in fall of 2023 we were notified that our 501c3 status was being revoked. This was a surprise to us, and the board worked quickly to find out why and what happened.
After numerous, unsuccessful attempts to resolve the revocation with our existing accountant, we hired Detweiler, Hershey & Associates, P.C. of Souderton to help rectify the situation by restoring our 501c3 status and filing the missing tax returns. The process started in January.
For those that may not be familiar, a Charity and a 501c3 are very similar with some slight differences for tax exemption. Both have EIN numbers, require tax returns to be filed and have all of the required legal documentation. A Charity does not have to have a 501c3 status, we chose to become a 501c3 for employer matching programs and exemptions for our donors. We are committed to continuing our focus on the Charity and work that we have been doing and are looking forward to the 501c3 status being restored.
#IronDad23 continues to do the charitable work that we’ve committed to do in Souderton Area School District. This includes sponsoring a Senior Award & scholarship at SAHS. We continue to run our Souderton Elementary School assistance program across all six elementary schools. We continue to support both middle schools, along with supporting food programs, purchasing backpacks with school supplies, volunteering for programs, as well as additional financial assistance for our schools. We continue to help our local families in need, provide registration fees for activities/sports along with financial assistance and continue to purchase mobility devices for those who are in need. We continue to sponsor and donate to local sports organizations and other charities. We continue to run the mentorship program with our team and volunteer our time at all SASD locations.
To date we’ve helped to put $31,255 back into our school district through the support of families in need; $1,600 in registration fees for activities and $6,900 in local sports sponsorships.
As always, if there are any questions, please reach out to the #IronDad23 Board to get clarification. Financial reports are available upon request.
